About the role
Derick HVAC-R is seeking a customer-oriented and technically capable IT Support Officer / IT Help Desk Officer to join its IT function in a full-time, onsite role based in Australia. This is an entry-level to junior opportunity suited to fresh graduates and early-career candidates who want to develop a career in IT support and technology services.
What you will do
- Act as the first point of contact for technical issues across hardware, software, networking, and systems.
- Handle user questions and work to close support requests quickly and efficiently.
- Set up, configure, and look after computers, printers, and other IT devices.
- Help with installing software, applying updates, and adjusting system settings.
- Resolve problems related to desktops, laptops, email, and network connectivity.
- Administer user accounts, password changes, and access rights.
- Record, follow up, and keep support tickets current in the help desk platform.
- Refer more complex technical matters to senior IT staff when required.
- Keep clear records of support actions taken and the solutions provided.
- Contribute to IT initiatives, system improvements, and routine maintenance work.
Requirements
- A diploma or bachelor’s qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Working familiarity with Windows, Microsoft 365, and computer hardware basics.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and VPN access.
- Prior exposure to help desk or ticketing platforms will be beneficial.
- Strong diagnostic thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Good verbal and written communication along with a service-focused attitude.
- Comfortable working both on your own and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine willingness to learn.
- Internship experience or prior IT support exposure is helpful but not mandatory.
