Job description
Role overview
This part-time remote IT Support Officer position is based in Australia and is centered on helping internal staff with day-to-day technical issues. The role is focused on fast, dependable support for software, hardware, and user-access problems while working across Australian time zones.
Key duties
You will handle incoming support requests through tickets, emails, and phone calls, identify the root cause of technical problems, and fix common issues or pass more complex cases to the right team member. The job also includes supporting desktops, laptops, and connected devices, creating and managing user accounts, applying basic system settings, and keeping clear records of incidents and resolutions.
In addition, you will watch for performance issues, walk users through practical step-by-step solutions, and collaborate with other IT colleagues to strengthen support workflows. All work must align with service-level expectations and security requirements.
Qualifications and requirements
The position calls for strong troubleshooting ability, a working knowledge of information technology fundamentals, and familiarity with operating systems, basic networking, and common business software. Practical experience with desktop and laptop support is needed, including installation, configuration, and routine upkeep.
You should also be comfortable with printer setup and troubleshooting, able to communicate clearly with non-technical users, and capable of working independently in a remote setting while managing several priorities. Experience using ticketing platforms and remote support tools is useful, and knowledge of ITIL practices is an added advantage. A relevant qualification such as CompTIA A+, IT Support training, or equivalent hands-on experience is expected. Applicants must live in Australia and be eligible to work there.
Working style
The role is part-time and fully remote, with flexibility required to support Australian business hours and time zones.
