About the Opportunity
This role sits within a fast-paced technology services organization that supports enterprise networking and data center operations across Japan. The work is centered on keeping mission-critical infrastructure available at all times for global clients with on-site facilities. Reliability, quick response, and practical, hands-on delivery are essential in this environment.
What You Will Do
- Carry out on-site installation, setup, and troubleshooting of network hardware in enterprise campuses and data centers across Japan.
- Handle physical infrastructure work such as mounting servers and network gear in racks, terminating fiber and copper cabling, installing switches and routers, and maintaining patch panels.
- Investigate live network disruptions or slowdowns quickly, identify the cause, and resolve issues before escalating when needed.
- Work with remote engineering teams to apply network changes, verify configurations, and keep clear records of all actions taken.
- Assist with deployments from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and HPE while following client change-control requirements.
- Review incidents after resolution and suggest preventive actions that help reduce repeat outages and improve SLA performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of Cisco IOS.
- Working familiarity with Juniper JUNOS.
- Experience with cabling standards and components including Cat6, SFP, LC, and SC.
- Understanding of core switching and routing technologies such as VLAN, OSPF, and BGP.
- Ability to manage data center racking, stacking, and cable organization.
- Comfort using monitoring platforms like PRTG, SolarWinds, and Nagios.
- Knowledge of ITIL-based incident handling.
- Japanese business communication skills at N3 level or above.
Preferred Experience
- CCNA certification.
- Exposure to Arista or HPE switching environments.
- Familiarity with DCIM platforms such as Nlyte or Sunbird.
