Job description
Role overview
This is a graduate-level internship within the Police Liaison Unit (PLU), based in Bridgend and supporting policing in Wales. The post works alongside the team’s Analyst/Policy Officer on important priorities for policing and wider public services.
The appointment runs for 12 months and focuses on helping deliver evidence-based work across subjects such as reducing violence against women and girls and contributing to an anti-racist Wales. The role will also help produce information that informs discussions and decisions made by policing and criminal justice stakeholders.
What you will do
You will assist with the creation of data dashboards that track progress against key objectives. Your work will include collecting, cleaning and formatting data, then presenting it in a clear and usable way for performance reporting. You will also support the preparation of data used in other reports.
What we are looking for
Applicants should be confident using IT tools and have strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. This role will suit someone interested in building a future career in policing, criminal justice, or the wider public sector.
Additional information
The successful candidate must be prepared to complete vetting to MC/SC level.
If you are already employed internally and are currently subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your start or placement in this role may be postponed until that matter is resolved. Any decision on holding the role open will be made individually.
South Wales Police is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified people. As Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, applications from ethnically diverse candidates are especially encouraged.
To help build a more diverse workforce, South Wales Police offers a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for people living with a disability or who identify as ethnically diverse.
To be considered under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme, you must meet the essential minimum criteria for the role and make sure your application, personal statement and/or CV clearly show how you meet each requirement.
For further details or an informal conversation, you may contact the Head of the Police Liaison Unit, Paul Morris, or Owen Woolcock using the contact details provided in the source listing.
