Job description

Role Overview

This opportunity is being shared on behalf of a partner employer that handles applications and the remaining hiring steps directly. The company is seeking an Intermediate QA Test Developer in Canada for a fully remote position.

In this role, you will help protect the quality and reliability of important digital products in a fast-paced engineering environment. Your work will focus on both automated and manual testing to support smooth experiences across web and mobile platforms. You will work alongside developers, product managers, and QA colleagues to build quality into the product from the earliest stages of development. The role is hands-on and involves automation tools, CI/CD workflows, and Agile delivery practices. You will help find defects earlier, expand test coverage, and improve confidence in every release.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build, update, and support automated test scripts for web and mobile products using modern tools such as WebdriverIO or similar frameworks.
  • Carry out functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing to verify quality across releases.
  • Execute automated test runs inside CI/CD pipelines and quickly surface any failures or issues.
  • Investigate test breakdowns, trace root causes, and explain findings clearly to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Work with developers and QA teammates to shape test strategies and make sure both new and existing features are adequately covered.
  • Take part in Agile activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and backlog refinement to keep quality aligned with delivery.
  • Prepare, maintain, and refresh test plans, test cases, and quality-related documentation.
  • Support shift-left testing approaches so defects can be detected earlier in the lifecycle.
  • Help improve and evolve the automation framework over time.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in QA automation, software testing, or software development.
  • Practical experience using WebdriverIO, Playwright, or a comparable modern automation framework.
  • Strong working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript in a testing or automation setting.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Mocha, Supertest, or equivalent tools.
  • Comfort working with CI/CD pipelines and running automated tests in integrated environments.
  • Solid debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, GitHub, Jira, and Agile/Scrum ways of working.
  • Exposure to React Native or mobile app testing is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • A proactive, detail-focused mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary between CA$83,000 and CA$99,000, plus an estimated performance bonus of about CA$10,000.
  • Fully remote work anywhere in Canada with long-term flexibility.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage available from the first day.
  • Mental health support along with a wellness stipend.
  • Flexible “You-do-You” time off policy offering up to 6 weeks of vacation.
  • Inclusive parental leave top-up and a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
  • The chance to contribute to high-impact financial wellness products used by millions.
  • A supportive environment that values learning, growth, and engineering excellence in a modern technology stack.
