Role Summary
This position combines inside sales coordination with procurement support. The role is responsible for preparing quotations, following up on opportunities, processing orders accurately, coordinating delivery, sourcing materials, and keeping communication flowing between customers, suppliers, logistics, and internal teams.
Inside Sales Coordination
- Draft customer quotations with correct pricing and technical details.
- Follow up on enquiries, negotiate within approved limits, and turn prospects into confirmed sales orders.
- Enter sales orders into the ERP system with full technical and commercial accuracy.
- Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure deliveries happen on schedule.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and respond quickly to queries.
- Monitor order progress from start to finish and provide regular updates to clients.
- Assist the sales team with market rate information, industry trends, and competitor insights.
Procurement Coordination
- Source materials from pre-approved local and overseas suppliers.
- Collect and compare supplier quotations based on cost, quality, lead time, and certification requirements.
- Raise purchase orders and obtain prompt order confirmations.
- Track supplier performance against specifications, standards, and agreed delivery schedules.
- Coordinate import shipments, shipping paperwork, and customs clearance activities.
- Help maintain stock levels that match sales forecasts.
- Serve as the main point of contact among suppliers, customers, logistics partners, and internal departments.
- Handle discrepancies, delivery delays, and quality concerns through to resolution.
- Support the finance team with payment follow-up and procurement-related documentation.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a similar discipline is required.
- Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of experience in steel trading, with carbon steel or stainless steel being preferred.
- Background in both sales support and procurement is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of steel product grades such as SS304, SS316, and A36 is needed.
- Comfort using ERP platforms and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, is expected.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities are essential.
- Good planning, prioritization, and multitasking skills are important for success in this role.
- High attention to detail is needed, particularly when reviewing technical specifications.
