About the opportunity
Selwyn District Council is expanding its Information Management team and is seeking a well-organised Information Support Officer to help manage the council's information day to day. This is a practical, hands-on position focused on keeping records accurate, easy to find, and properly maintained.
In this role, you will work alongside the Information Management team to support a range of tasks, including handling shared inboxes, dealing with information requests, supporting the SharePoint environment, and contributing to efficient information management practices.
What you'll do
- Support the daily operation of the council's information management systems, including SharePoint
- Monitor and manage Information Management inboxes, sorting and progressing requests according to set procedures
- Use agreed SharePoint rules and naming standards to keep council sites consistent
- Help improve and maintain information management workflows and systems
- Keep records and process documents accurate so the team can work smoothly and consistently
- Work with teams across the council to support information management and modern digital working practices
What we're looking for
You are likely someone who enjoys bringing order to systems, takes satisfaction in helping others find the information they need, and values accuracy. You should be able to juggle changing priorities, work comfortably with digital tools, and be open to learning new systems.
Applicants may come from administration, office support, information services, or a similar background. A practical mindset, willingness to learn, and a strong focus on supporting both colleagues and customers are important.
Desired experience and capabilities
- Experience in administration, office support, digital platforms, or information services
- Strong organisation skills and confidence managing shifting priorities
- Comfort using Microsoft 365 tools, especially Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel
- Clear written and spoken communication skills
- High accuracy and close attention to detail
- Ability to learn systems and procedures quickly
Nice to have
- Background in local government, the public sector, or a similar setting
- Experience with SharePoint or another document management platform
- Interest in information management, records, or digital systems
