Job description
Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Industrial Labourer position with GFL Environmental Inc. is based in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The role supports industrial services work with a strong focus on safe, hands-on labour, equipment handling, site cleanup, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and support the progress of assigned work on a day-to-day basis.
- Keep tools, equipment, and the industrial services shop clean and orderly.
- Carry out power washing and high-pressure water blasting when needed.
- Perform industrial cleaning involving both non-hazardous and hazardous chemical waste.
- Handle line snaking and support drain and pipe inspection tasks as required.
- Assist with vacuum truck work and plant operations as needed.
- Enter confined spaces for industrial services projects when required.
- Work while using a respirator or supplied air breathing apparatus.
- Carry out physically demanding tasks such as shoveling, jackhammering, squeegeeing, scraping, and heavy lifting.
- Operate vehicles and equipment such as pickup trucks, utility trailers, forklifts, excavators, bobcats, and similar machinery.
- Use aerial boom lifts or scissor lifts when required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Working Conditions
- A Class G driver’s licence is required for labourer roles.
- Underground common core is considered an asset.
- Applicants must be comfortable with physically demanding work.
- A clean-shaven appearance is required for respirator fit testing.
- Prior experience in industrial environments is an advantage.
- The role requires the ability to handle multiple tasks, follow instructions, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including days, evenings, nights, and potentially weekends or holidays, is expected.
- Work may take place in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Some tasks involve working at heights above 3 metres.
- Experience with vacuum trucks, industrial power washing, water blasting, or the liquid waste sector is strongly preferred.
- Experience with confined space entry or working at heights is an asset.
- Experience using respirators and supplied-air systems is also an asset.
