Role overview
Eram Talent is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Technician to support industrial hygiene activities in Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will help put industrial hygiene programs into practice and keep them running effectively so the workplace remains safe and healthy for employees.
Education and certification
- A diploma in Environmental Science, Natural Science, Chemistry Science, or a related higher qualification.
- OHST (Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician) certification, or an equivalent credential.
- Ability to understand, or quickly become familiar with, OSHA requirements and similar industrial hygiene regulations and consensus standards.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial hygiene within a petrochemical, refining, fertilizer, or chemical environment.
Skills and knowledge
- Ability to learn or already use industrial hygiene tools such as sound level meters, sampling pumps, multi-gas monitors, lux meters, and photo-ionisation detectors (PIDs).
- Capability to carry out both qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments.
- Familiarity with hazard identification, PPE evaluations, and job safety analyses for work activities.
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, along with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Customer-oriented, results-focused, and comfortable working with employees and contractors at different levels across the site.
- Self-driven, confident, and able to work independently as well as with a team.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Industrial Hygienist in carrying out and maintaining the Industrial Hygiene Program.
- Perform workplace hygiene surveys such as heat stress monitoring, noise surveys, chemical exposure checks, lighting surveys, and ergonomic studies.
- Verify that industrial hygiene equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly, and manage the stock of related consumables.
- Prepare sampling media for industrial hygiene testing and send samples to external laboratories.
- Support the Respiratory Protection Program, including operation of the breathing air compressor.
- Carry out respirator fit testing and maintain the required records.
- Inspect and function-test respirators.
- Help maintain and calibrate multi-gas detectors.
- Provide everyday industrial hygiene assistance to plant staff and contractors, including PPE assessments, job safety analyses, and workplace hazard assessments.
- Take part in compliance audits and conduct formal audits of the industrial hygiene program.
