Role overview
This opportunity is designed for a recent graduate, or someone about to graduate, who wants to build a career in import shipping or logistics. You will join a busy, supportive team and gain practical exposure to international shipping operations in a role that offers strong learning and long-term growth potential.
About the organisation
The New Zealand Moving and Storage Group is a New Zealand-owned business with more than four decades of experience in domestic and international relocation services. Its brands include New Zealand Van Lines, The Moving Company, New Zealand Movers, Ausmove, and The Workplace Moving Company. The group operates 14 branches and warehouses across the country, employs over 400 people, and works with international partners in more than 100 countries to serve both private and corporate customers.
What you will do
As part of the Auckland shipping team, you will support import activity for customer goods arriving in New Zealand, including items belonging to people who are moving to the country or returning home.
Key duties
- Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, New Zealand Customs, New Zealand Quarantine, and overseas partners.
- Oversee the full import workflow for inbound shipments, including invoicing, partner communication, and management of international links.
- Help drive MPI and customs clearance steps.
- Maintain customer records in the company’s specialist system, Moveware.
- Serve as a point of contact between customers and operations, with a strong focus on clear communication and service quality.

Skills and attributes
- Currently studying, or recently completed, a qualification in a relevant subject area.
- Well organised, proactive, and able to manage sensitive information discreetly.
- Enjoys solving problems and working collaboratively with others.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office, AI tools, and learning new software platforms.
- Interested in transport and logistics.
- Able to communicate confidently with customers and international partners.
