Job description

About Black Donors Save Lives

Black Donors Save Lives (BDSL) is a federal nonprofit committed to narrowing racial gaps in blood, stem cell, organ, and tissue donation. Its work centers on improving results for patients from African, Caribbean, and Black communities, who are often less represented in donor registries. The organization partners with healthcare providers and community groups to build awareness and encourage more people to become donors. BDSL places strong value on measurable outcomes, community involvement, and fair access to life-saving donations.

Role Overview

The Impact & Data Coordinator (Volunteer) is a remote role focused on helping BDSL track, analyze, and present the impact of its programs. The position involves collecting and organizing information about outreach events, donor sign-ups, and community outcomes, while making sure records remain accurate and current. The coordinator also helps prepare simple reports, dashboards, and summaries that show trends, progress, and areas for improvement.

  • Gather and structure data from internal systems and external partners.
  • Clean, check, and validate datasets to maintain data quality.
  • Create basic reports, dashboards, and summary materials for the team.
  • Document data methods and tracking processes clearly.
  • Support the development of impact stories and presentation materials for stakeholders.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to strengthen decision-making through evidence-based insights.

Qualifications

  • Solid analytical ability with practical experience in data analysis and analytics.
  • Confidence in handling, organizing, and managing datasets.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to explain findings to varied audiences.
  • Comfort using spreadsheets and basic data visualization or reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical data handling.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time well, and meet deadlines.
  • Genuine interest in health equity, community impact, and issues affecting African, Caribbean, and Black communities.
  • Experience in impact measurement, program evaluation, or nonprofit work is helpful but not mandatory.
