About the role
Amazon’s Immigration Team is expanding and looking for an experienced Immigration Consultant to join the DEU immigration group in Berlin. The wider team supports Amazon businesses, employees, and candidates across Europe by delivering immigration guidance, managing filings, and coordinating with external vendors. It also works closely with business leaders and partner teams to improve service quality, compliance, and cost efficiency.
In this position, you will handle day-to-day immigration case operations for the German team. You will work on a high volume of matters involving sponsored employees and their family members across different jurisdictions, serving as the main contact throughout the full immigration journey.
Key responsibilities
- Run immigration cases end to end, working with recruitment, onboarding, HR partners, and government authorities to determine and carry out the most suitable immigration approach for each employee.
- Handle a demanding caseload, typically 45 to 50 matters at a time, covering new visas, renewals, cancellations, and amendments of work permits and residence visas, including related entry, work permit, and residence filings for each applicant.
- Partner with teammates on document drafting, submission, and collection of approval notices.
- Maintain frequent communication with employees and multiple internal stakeholders while meeting the team’s response SLA, usually within one business day or faster depending on case urgency.
- Help develop action plans to address case-related issues and blockers.
- Support process improvement efforts by identifying defects, reviewing customer complaints, and finding ways to improve efficiency and service quality continuously.
Required qualifications
- Strong command of both German and English at C1 level.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources.
- Experience handling HR processes and systems administration.
- Background working with KPIs and SLAs.
- Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred background
- Previous experience in the immigration field.
- Exposure to multiple HR systems.
- Ability to manage work using project management principles and methods.
- Experience in reporting and analytics.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
- Confidence to challenge issues, anticipate risks, and advocate for ongoing improvement.
- Ability to influence small groups and individuals toward resolution.
- Comfort working in international teams across different locations and cultures.
- Adaptability in changing environments.
- Flexibility.
- Ability to perform under strict legal deadlines.
