About the Role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Hydraulic Modeller to join its expanding Water team in Auckland. This position focuses on water and/or wastewater modelling and supports the development of resilient infrastructure that benefits communities across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The role sits within a collaborative environment made up of engineers, planners, and digital specialists. You will contribute to projects that influence how water systems are planned, improved, and sustained for the long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support hydraulic modelling and network planning work for water and/or wastewater systems.
  • Build, update, and improve models used for strategic master planning and infrastructure development.
  • Use tools and platforms such as InfoWorks WS Pro, EPANET, InfoWorks ICM, DHI MIKE+, ArcGIS, and QGIS where relevant.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Auckland, Wellington, and wider locations.
  • Explain modelling findings and proposed solutions clearly to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a team culture built on learning, collaboration, and high standards.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Science, Geography, or another related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in water or wastewater network planning and hydraulic modelling.
  • Strong analytical ability and a practical approach to solving problems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Genuine interest in producing work that has a meaningful community impact.
