Job description
Role Overview
As an HVAC / ICWS Technician, you will handle the operation, upkeep, fault diagnosis, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and Industrial Control & Water Systems that support mission-critical facilities at Al Udeid Air Base. The position focuses on keeping environmental control and water systems dependable while meeting U.S. military standards, safety rules, and host-nation obligations.
HVAC Systems
- Run, inspect, service, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, RTUs, split units, and control systems.
- Identify and correct mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues in HVAC equipment.
- Carry out preventive maintenance according to planned schedules and technical instructions.
- Track system efficiency and suggest ways to improve reliability and performance.
ICWS / Water Systems
- Operate and maintain industrial control systems used for potable water, wastewater, and related pumping and distribution networks.
- Observe SCADA/BMS displays and act on alarms or unusual system behavior.
- Inspect, test, and complete minor repairs on valves, pumps, sensors, and control parts.
- Assist with water sampling, flushing, and other compliance-related tasks when needed.
General Duties
- Keep maintenance records, reports, and work orders accurate and current.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and force protection requirements.
- Work with engineers, supervisors, and base personnel to help meet mission priorities.
- Respond to urgent callouts and provide after-hours or on-call support when required.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least five years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC/R systems and Industrial Chilled Water Systems is required.
- EPA Universal Certification is mandatory.
- You should understand industrial control systems and water system operations.
- You must be able to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability is essential.
Additional Requirements
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
- A valid U.S. Passport is preferred.
- You must be able to obtain and keep a valid Qatar Residency Visa.
- You should be comfortable working in severe environmental conditions, including dust and high temperatures.
- The role requires the ability to work long hours and tolerate exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
- Travel is 100% and the work location is in a deployed setting.
- A DoD Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained.
