About the Organization

Gurnick Academy is a Bay Area private healthcare college known for offering a broad range of programs in nursing, allied health, and imaging. The role is based at the corporate office in San Jose, California, with the possibility of remote and online work. The position may also require travel between Gurnick Academy campuses and the corporate office.

Role Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator will provide accurate, responsive administrative support to the HR team and manage the employee onboarding experience from start to finish. This includes preparing onboarding paperwork, coordinating pre-employment steps, supporting new hire orientation, arranging system access, and communicating with both hiring managers and new employees while maintaining compliance with company policies and legal employment requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage pre-employment steps and confirm completion of required items such as background screening, work authorization, and onboarding paperwork.
  • Prepare offer letters.
  • Verify employee background checks.
  • Handle the administrative side of onboarding.
  • Coordinate the complete onboarding journey for every new hire.
  • Act as the main contact for new employees during onboarding.
  • Track onboarding progress and follow up on pending items to keep the process moving on schedule.
  • Keep employee records and onboarding files accurate, current, and confidential.
  • Support HR administration tied to onboarding, employee status changes, and personnel file upkeep.
  • Help ensure onboarding processes comply with company policies and relevant employment laws.
  • Recommend and support improvements that strengthen the new hire experience.
  • Carry out additional HR-related tasks as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a paid full-time position with an hourly wage of $23.00 to $26.00.

Requirements

  • An associate degree is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience in human resources is needed.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with an educational, vocational, or healthcare environment is an advantage.
