Role Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner is a full-time position in the Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul Area, offered in a hybrid work setup. In this role, you will act as both a strategic advisor and a practical partner to client teams, helping align people strategies with business objectives and growth plans. You will shape HR policies and programs, provide guidance on employee relations matters, support performance management activities, and help clients navigate labor and employment law requirements. The position also involves supporting organizational change and talent planning, while working closely with internal Optima colleagues and client stakeholders to build consistent HR practices and a strong employee experience.

Qualifications
The role calls for a strong HR background, particularly in advisory or generalist functions, along with experience partnering with business leaders on talent, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate should be confident in building and rolling out HR policies, handling sensitive employee relations situations, and advising leaders through performance or conduct concerns. A solid understanding of labor and employment law is important, especially for multi-state compliance and changing regulations. Success in the position also depends on strong communication, consulting, and stakeholder-management abilities, plus comfort using HR technology and data in a hybrid, distributed environment. The candidate should also be able to make sound decisions in ambiguous situations with limited direction.

- Ability to collaborate with business leaders on talent, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning.
- Experience creating, implementing, and explaining clear and compliant HR policies and procedures.
- Experience with employee relations, including conflict resolution and leadership coaching.
- Working knowledge of labor and employment law, especially across multiple states and changing rules.
- Experience supporting performance management processes such as goal setting and feedback.
- Excellent communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfort working in hybrid settings and with distributed teams.
- Ability to use HR technology platforms and data for decision-making.
- Capability to operate in ambiguous situations and develop direction with limited information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related subject.
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is preferred.
- Experience in small to mid-market companies, high-growth environments, HR outsourcing, or consulting is an advantage.
