Job description

Role overview

This position works on a shift rotation within the cargo warehouse environment. The role is responsible for completing assigned tasks within set timeframes and coordinating day-to-day operational planning across key cargo activities, routes, and product flows. The focus is on meeting performance expectations tied to OTP, Cargo IQ, SLA targets, FAB, and EASC’s FAP.

Key accountabilities

  • Maintain strong oversight of inbound cargo quality by checking physical build-up, weight, and volume validation to reduce stow loss, improve onward connections, and support revenue maximization and accurate messaging such as pre-alerts, contacts, FWB/FHL, SHCs, and Cargo IQ updates.
  • Introduce proven operational methods and secure cooperation from service providers to lower irregularities and improve utilization of available capacity.
  • Track red routes and optimize space in line with cargo load planning, including pre-carrying shipments, reviewing connections, identifying potential no-shows or misconnections, and arranging load swaps or replacements when needed.
  • Oversee work progress and service delivery while ensuring full compliance with health, security, safety, and regulatory standards, including correct ULD lashing, securing, and PPE usage.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with service providers so adequate resources are available to support on-time departure performance, especially for freighter and RFS operations.
  • Ensure all Etihad procedures and external regulations are followed in relation to safety, security, and dangerous goods handling.
  • Assist the Cargo Operations Center Duty Manager in achieving departmental and company-wide objectives.
  • Contribute to best-practice implementation that supports revenue budget delivery, service quality, cost control, and compliance with safety and security rules.
  • Help implement measurement tools that assess flight and resource performance and apply KPIs to identify business requirements and improvement areas.
  • Perform spot checks on HDU and TRU units arriving from the network, ensuring TRU/HDU space is fully utilized and, where necessary, coordinate with origin stations to update system volume details for freight charge adjustments.
  • Provide on-the-job training, guidance, coaching, and advice to GHA staff to strengthen capability, knowledge, and confidence.
  • Remain flexible across operational shift requirements and be prepared to work in roles below the stated title, as cross-functional capability and ongoing competency development are essential.

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum education at high school level, with specialized exposure or training in cargo handling operations.
  • Completion of cargo handling and dangerous goods training is required, along with training in live animals, aircraft weight and balance, and general cargo procedures.
  • At least 3 years of experience in cargo operations.
  • Strong familiarity with cargo handling workflows, standard procedures, and regulatory compliance expectations.
