Key responsibilities

You will oversee occupational health and safety management across the plant and help ensure local legal compliance, internal standards and continual improvement practices are being followed.

  • Set up, apply and track the site’s health and safety system in line with regulations, internal procedures and improvement standards.
  • Spot hazards, conduct inspections and audits, and prepare preventive documents such as JHAs, special work permits, procedures and corrective action plans.
  • Identify training gaps and provide safety training on emergency response, equipment handling and PPE use, including Tool Box Talks based on site risks.
  • Develop and put into action the Emergency Response Plan, support drills, review fire detection and suppression systems, and assist during emergencies.
  • Serve as the EHS contact for local authorities, support inspections, prepare requested documentation and assist HR with accident reporting, occupational case tracking and records management.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and produce technical and follow-up reports to plant standards.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in signage, PPE usage, preventive controls and other safety measures required by law and company policy.

Requirements

  • A university degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Prevention, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in occupational health and safety, ideally in industrial or energy-sector settings.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, local OSH requirements, the OSH Bill and the Voluntary Compliance Program (VCP).
  • Familiarity with Safe Worker programmes.
  • Hands-on experience in incident reporting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement work.
  • Confidence liaising with local authorities on EHS matters.
  • Ability to prepare technical and follow-up reports for plant operations.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Residence in Montego Bay.

Perks and benefits

  • Exposure to challenging, internationally recognised projects with a collaborative team of skilled professionals.
  • Opportunities for internal growth, promotion and ongoing training.
  • Free flexible English training.
  • Guidance and support designed to help you perform at your best.
  • A workplace culture built on respect, inclusion, equality and zero tolerance for discrimination.
  • Participation in a company committed to sustainability, clean energy and reducing carbon footprint.
