Role overview

Our client in Dubai is seeking an HR Specialist focused on payroll to handle complete payroll operations, employee benefits administration, and payroll compliance. This is a contract assignment for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and business requirements. The position is part of the Human Capital Department and reports to the relevant Human Capital Manager.

The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong knowledge of UAE payroll regulations, compensation and benefits, and practical experience with Oracle Fusion HCM. You should be capable of independently running payroll cycles, checking transactions, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and statutory rules.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the monthly payroll process from start to finish, making sure both recurring and one-time payroll items are processed and checked accurately.
  • Examine and confirm payroll transactions such as new hires, exits, salary changes, unpaid leave, allowances, deductions, overtime, pension, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Check payroll costing outputs and verify that payroll records are posted correctly to the finance subledger, including the right cost centers and accounting codes.
  • Administer, review, and reconcile employee benefits and end-of-service benefits in line with company policy and UAE requirements.
  • Handle medical and life insurance administration, including adding and removing employees, making policy changes, and coordinating with insurance providers.
  • Protect the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of payroll information while ensuring adherence to internal controls and legal obligations.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliation tasks, and handling questions from employees and internal teams related to payroll.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or a related field with a payroll focus is required; a master’s degree is considered an added advantage.
  • At least 7 years of payroll experience overall, including a minimum of 5 years handling UAE payroll in a similar position.
  • Strong practical experience with Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll is compulsory.
  • Sound understanding of UAE payroll law, compensation and benefits, payroll accounting, and end-of-service benefit calculations.
  • Prior exposure to Free Zone, Real Estate, Aviation, Telecommunications, Entertainment, or Retail environments is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical ability, reconciliation skills, problem-solving capability, and strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Fluent command of English is required.
  • Candidates who can join immediately will be preferred.
  • The role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
