Job description

About the role

In this remote People Operations role, you will take end-to-end responsibility for core HR processes with a strong emphasis on efficiency, automation, and scalable design. Rather than simply administering people-related tasks, you will review existing workflows, simplify manual steps, improve internal structures, and build solutions that can grow with the business. The position is designed for someone who can work independently, drive process improvements, and continuously raise the quality of People Operations in a distributed setup.

About the company

The employer is a fast-growing technology business with the ambition to help shape the digital future. Its mission is to help people around the world share their knowledge online and build successful businesses from it. The organization supports millions of users with tools that help them reach their goals, and it is powered by a team of around 200 highly driven people from more than 40 countries.

The culture is hands-on, performance-oriented, and self-directed. Team members are expected to shape their day actively, take ownership, and help the company improve continuously. The company is growing steadily and is looking for people who want to take responsibility, think independently, and contribute to long-term development.

Role focus

This is not an entry-level HR position. It is a time-bound assignment for an experienced People Operations professional who wants to make a tangible impact. Your main focus will be on redesigning processes, reducing manual work, strengthening HR data structures, and supporting decision-making through better reporting and analytics. You will work with a high level of autonomy and are expected to move topics forward from analysis through implementation.

The assignment is limited to 12 months. Full-time work is expected, while part-time is possible from 35 hours per week across 5 working days, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

  • Review existing People Operations workflows, identify bottlenecks, and replace repetitive manual tasks with more efficient and scalable approaches.
  • Improve HR reporting, dashboards, and data quality so people decisions can be made on reliable metrics.
  • Own projects from start to finish, including analysis, concept development, implementation, and follow-up.
  • Maintain and further develop central HR processes so they run in a standardized, efficient, and largely automated way.
  • Handle employee inquiries independently, including questions related to leave, contracts, and benefits.
  • Prepare standard HR documents and maintain accurate employee records in the HR system.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities and ensure that changes in employee data are processed correctly.
  • Challenge existing workflows and contribute ideas for improving systems, reporting, and compensation-related processes.
  • Build or refine dashboards and analyze HR indicators such as turnover and time-to-hire.
  • Work collaboratively with the team while keeping a strong focus on ownership, impact, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in HR or People Operations, with a clear track record of improving processes independently.
  • No recruiting-heavy background is needed; the role is centered on operations rather than talent acquisition.
  • Strong familiarity with HR tools and systems such as Personio, Leapsome, SAP, or rexx, along with the ability to question and improve how they are used.
  • A structured, detail-oriented working style and the ability to create dependable processes that can scale.
  • High ownership, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to manage tasks and projects without close supervision.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with the drive to move topics forward rather than wait for instructions.
  • Professional fluency in both German and English, spoken and written.
  • Clear, empathetic, and solution-oriented communication with employees and stakeholders in both languages.
  • Strong analytical thinking and confidence working with numbers, reports, and HR data.
  • Sound understanding of employment law and awareness of regulatory requirements when designing processes.
  • Comfort switching between different topics quickly and working in a fast-moving environment.

Why this role may not be a fit

  • If you have less than 3 to 5 years of experience in HR Operations.
  • If you prefer detailed instructions instead of working independently.
  • If you struggle with planning, prioritizing, or switching between topics.
  • If you have little or no experience with people analytics or HR controlling.
  • If you do not feel confident communicating with different stakeholders.
  • If you are not comfortable using English as needed in daily work.
  • If you are not interested in remote work.

Benefits

  • Permanent 100% remote work from home, as long as you have a stable internet connection.
  • Employment from outside Germany is possible in many European countries.
  • Up to 170 days per year working from other EU countries, with additional destinations potentially possible by agreement.
  • Access to coworking spaces through a partner for up to 3 days per week.
  • 30 days of annual leave based on full-time employment.
  • Flexible working hours in coordination with the team.
  • Individual development tailored to your strengths rather than rigid career plans.
  • Flat hierarchy, short decision paths, and the stability of a very successful German high-tech company with a startup spirit.
  • Founder involvement and a self-funded business model without external investors.
  • A culture built on autonomy, accountability, direct feedback, and results instead of micromanagement.
  • Modern equipment provided for your work.
  • An international and collaborative team environment.
  • Team lunches supported with Lieferando credit.
  • Team events across Europe and opportunities to build real connections beyond the screen.
  • Personal support and challenge from team leadership, including monthly one-on-ones.
  • A work environment with informal communication, no dress code, and a respectful first-name culture.

Typical day

A usual day in this role can include reviewing your priorities, responding to employee questions, keeping HR master data accurate, improving workflows, joining short team exchanges, and working on automation or reporting projects. You may spend part of the day handling administrative tasks such as certificates or employee records, and another part analyzing people data, building dashboards, or designing better ways to manage HR processes. The role combines focused individual work with regular collaboration and continuous optimization.

Additional information

The role is intended for someone who wants to create measurable improvements in People Operations rather than simply maintain existing processes. A strong interest in efficiency, systems thinking, and scalable solutions is essential. The company also places high value on alignment with its internal values and expects candidates to be comfortable working in a highly autonomous, performance-driven environment.
