Job description

About the role

This opportunity is with a rapidly expanding company headquartered in New York City. The organization is looking for an HR Generalist to strengthen core people operations and act as a trusted partner to employees and managers. In this role, you will handle day-to-day HR execution while helping build the systems, workflows, and culture needed to support continued growth.

Talent and onboarding

  • Create a welcoming and structured onboarding experience by leading new hire orientations and making sure every new employee receives a consistent introduction to the company.
  • Manage offboarding in a careful, compliant, and well-documented way that supports respectful employee transitions.
  • Run recruiting from requisition intake through offer acceptance, including manager consultation, job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer closure.
  • Improve and manage college recruiting and internship initiatives to support a strong early-career talent pipeline.

People operations, payroll and benefits

  • Handle biweekly payroll operations, spot and resolve discrepancies early, and work with internal stakeholders or external vendors to ensure pay is accurate and timely.
  • Oversee everyday benefits administration, compensation updates, and leaves of absence while serving as a reliable resource for employees.
  • Maintain job descriptions so they remain aligned with changing business needs, internal leveling, and applicable regulations.

Performance, policies and compliance

  • Support performance management activities such as goal setting, annual review cycles, calibration support, and coaching for managers.
  • Contribute to updates in HR policies, employee handbook content, and manager-facing tools so they stay clear and compliant with employment law.
  • Keep organizational charts, employee records, and core HR data accurate and up to date in HR systems.

Culture, engagement and improvement

  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, company events, and recognition efforts that reflect and reinforce the organization’s culture and values.
  • Build HR reporting and insights, including metrics such as headcount, turnover, time to fill, and engagement themes, to help guide leadership decisions.
  • Look for ways to simplify and automate HR processes, introduce scalable workflows, and improve HR tools and systems.
  • Stay informed on evolving HR practices and new technologies, and recommend solutions that fit a high-growth environment.

What you bring

The ideal candidate should have a strong generalist HR background with exposure to several people-operations functions and the confidence to work closely with cross-functional teams. Experience in a startup or similarly fast-moving environment is an advantage. You should also bring practical knowledge of employment law, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
