Role Overview

The HR Generalist will be an important part of the People team, handling everyday HR operations and acting as a dependable point of contact for employees and managers. This position contributes to the full employee journey, including hiring, onboarding, performance support, compliance, and employee relations. The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years of broad HR experience, strong operational capability, and a genuine interest in supporting people.

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

  • Work closely with hiring managers to source, interview, and bring in strong candidates while keeping the candidate experience smooth and efficient.
  • Oversee or arrange background screening and verification of employment eligibility.
  • Create and run a warm, effective new-hire orientation process that helps employees start confidently.

HR Programs and Daily Operations

  • Support execution of HR programs related to compensation, benefits, leave, performance, recognition, and employee growth.
  • Track and maintain records for required and optional training, certifications, and professional licenses.
  • Help run employee recognition initiatives that reflect the company’s culture and values.
  • Respond to HR-related questions from employees, candidates, and managers, and escalate sensitive or complicated issues when needed.

Employee Relations and Compliance

  • Participate in disciplinary conversations, investigations, and termination processes with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ensure HR practices align with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, and update policies when needed.
  • Keep up to date on HR best practices, regulatory changes, and developments in employment law and talent management.

Supervisory Support

  • May help coordinate schedules, assignments, and workflow for HR support staff.
  • May assist managers with delivering timely and constructive performance reviews.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

This role calls for excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle negotiation and conflict resolution effectively. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, and comfortable working under deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability is important, along with integrity, professionalism, and a high level of confidentiality. Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations is required, as well as comfort using Microsoft Office and HRIS or talent management systems.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience in a professional setting is required.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is strongly preferred, and actively working toward certification is considered a plus.
