Role overview
A growing plaintiff personal injury law firm in New York’s Financial District is hiring an HR Coordinator to support both human resources and day-to-day business operations. The firm has a team of 20 attorneys and handles a broad mix of matters, including motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, Labor Law, workers’ compensation, product liability, and related claims. As a family-run legal practice, the attorneys focus on helping injured individuals and their families navigate litigation and pursue full compensation after serious or fatal accidents.
Compensation
The stated annual pay for this position is $55,000 to $60,000.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare HR policies, procedures, and internal memoranda to help keep the organization aligned with changing employment laws and regulations.
- Support routine HR functions and broader office operations in a busy, fast-moving environment.
- Build and run onboarding programs for new hires, including training on workplace policies, procedures, and compliance expectations.
- Maintain organized employee records across both paper and digital systems, including personnel files, benefits documents, attendance logs, disciplinary records, and similar HR paperwork.
- Update and refine employee handbooks, policies, and procedures, with particular attention to requirements affecting New York-based staff.
- Help develop and carry out HR initiatives that support company goals and operational priorities.
- Use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, along with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, to complete daily work.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, stay highly organized, and work well in a team-oriented setting.
Candidate profile
- At least 1 year of recent hands-on experience in Human Resources.
- Proven ability to draft HR-related policies and documents with compliance in mind.
- Experience creating onboarding processes and training new employees.
- Strong recordkeeping and document management skills.
- Exposure to employee handbooks, policy updates, and procedures for New York employees is preferred.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and coordinating with multiple teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and teamwork abilities.
