Role overview

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product and Technology (DEEP&T) is hiring an HR Business Partner to join its HR organization in Glendale, California. DEEP&T is a worldwide technology group that supports the product and technology foundation behind Disney’s major streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and other flagship products connected to Disney’s content and characters.

In this role, you will help shape and roll out the people strategy so it aligns with business priorities and team objectives. You will act as a strategic advisor to leadership across Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology, delivering integrated and inclusive HR support across areas such as organizational planning, talent management, change support, operational effectiveness, and functional HR alignment. The role reports to the Director, People & Culture Business Partner.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the main HR contact for assigned business groups and help address people-related challenges, initiatives, and goals.
  • Build a strong understanding of the business and contribute to people programs that support its strategy.
  • Provide HR support in a way that creates a smooth experience for clients while connecting them to the wider HR network and functional specialists.
  • Own assigned HR projects and initiatives, which may include performance cycles, talent planning, compensation planning, career growth, and organizational design.
  • Manage routine HR matters for assigned teams and make sure solutions create clear value for the business.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees who need guidance, have concerns, or want assistance.
  • Address employee relations matters for assigned groups and elevate complex or unusual cases to the Senior Manager and Employee Relations team when needed.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners in other areas to provide a consistent and coordinated service experience.
  • Coach leaders on HR policies and processes, including talent planning, learning, and performance management, to strengthen engagement and continuous development.
  • Work with HR partners to execute people strategies that support business goals and growth.
  • Review trends and metrics with HR specialists to develop recommendations, solutions, and programs that better support client teams.
  • Maintain strong business awareness so you can advise and influence leadership using both HR and business insight.
  • Recognize issues that need escalation and act accordingly.

Required qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience managing several priorities and projects at once.
  • Strong ability to connect people strategy with broader business planning.
  • Comfort working with data, spotting trends, and turning findings into clear insights.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including formulas, pivot tables, and charts/graphs.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-identification skills.
  • Resourceful approach to solving complex client issues and identifying where training or communication gaps may exist.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation development.
  • Solid understanding of HR practices and industry standards.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation abilities.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving ability, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and partner across a diverse organization.
  • Experience handling conflict and confidence to challenge thinking when needed.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with The Walt Disney Company’s functional HR environment.
  • Background in consulting and/or change management.

Education

A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Business, Human Resources Management, or a related field is required. An MBA or a master’s degree in Organizational Development or Leadership is preferred.

Compensation and additional information

The hiring range for this Glendale, CA role is USD 104,800 to USD 128,000 per year. The final base salary offered will depend on factors such as internal equity, geographic location, relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. The role may also include a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, along with medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position offered.
