About the Role

This position is based at Mantra MacArthur Hotel, located just outside Canberra’s CBD in Turner, Australian Capital Territory. The property offers apartment-style studio rooms for business travellers, along with one- and two-bedroom suites suited to families and groups. Outside of work, the area provides easy access to major Canberra attractions such as the National Gallery, the War Memorial, Parliament House, and the city’s shopping and dining district.

Role Purpose

As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will be an important part of the housekeeping team, helping create an excellent guest experience through spotless rooms and strong attention to detail. The role also involves working closely with teammates and assisting guests when required. Your contribution helps ensure every stay feels comfortable, welcoming, and memorable.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean guest rooms thoroughly, including replacing linen, sanitising bathrooms, and wiping surfaces to deliver a polished first impression.
• Follow the property’s housekeeping standards and procedures consistently to maintain high-quality room presentation.
• Keep housekeeping trolleys stocked, tidy, and ready for use.
• Handle cleaning products responsibly and comply with safety practices to maintain a safe workplace.
• Protect guest privacy and uphold security expectations at all times.
• Escalate maintenance concerns quickly to support a smooth and flawless guest experience.

Skills and Experience

The ideal person brings a service-focused attitude, works efficiently, and takes pride in producing excellent results. A background in cleaning or room attendant work is helpful, and strong communication skills are important for interacting positively with guests and colleagues. The role suits someone with strong attention to detail, good time management, and comfort working in a physically active environment that may involve stairs and open walkways. Teamwork across diverse groups is also essential. Reliable transport and the ability to work across different shifts, including weekends and public holidays, are required.
