Role overview
WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, West Virginia is looking for a Housekeeper to carry out environmental services that keep assigned spaces clean, orderly, and ready for use.
What you will do
- Check assigned areas to confirm they are clean and in good condition, and escalate any issues to a supervisor.
- Clean a range of spaces such as patient rooms, exam rooms, public areas, restrooms, procedure rooms, operating rooms, offices, and equipment by following set procedures.
- Remove waste from designated areas.
- Restock paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap so supplies remain available.
- Make beds in discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned, using approved cleaning practices.
- Keep cleaning equipment in proper working order and notify the supervisor about problems or improvement ideas.
- Relocate equipment, furniture, and boxes, and perform tasks such as washing walls and spot-cleaning carpets as needed.
- Follow all sanitation and safety requirements.
Preferred education
A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is preferred.
Additional qualifications and requirements
- For facilities with specialty accreditation standards, completion of the required annual education is expected. This may be completed through computer-based learning, training sessions, in-services, and competency checks.
- You must be physically able to perform cleaning work such as mopping, reaching, bending, and operating equipment like vacuums, autoscrubbers, and buffers.
- You must meet the U.S. Department of Labor Heavy Duty Standard.
- You should be able to wear the required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- The role involves regular exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and cleaning chemicals.
- The schedule may change according to hospital operational needs.
- You need to interact respectfully and professionally with guests.
- You should understand the assigned areas, required supplies, and equipment.
- You must be able to read and follow written work instructions.
Work schedule
This is a full-time position with 40 scheduled hours per week. The shift is varied and based in the United States (non-exempt).
