Job description
About the company
Bruntwood is a UK commercial property business focused on shaping lively, thriving places where organisations can grow. Its work spans office, coworking, retail, and laboratory environments, with ownership, development, management, and maintenance of properties across England.
You will be based at the Platform building in Leeds city centre, working Monday to Friday for 40 hours each week, from 09:00 to 18:00.
Role purpose
This position is the front-facing point of contact for the building and plays a key part in creating a welcoming and high-quality experience for customers, tenants, and visitors. The role suits someone who enjoys meeting people, forming strong relationships, and bringing a hospitality-minded approach to service.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a consistently positive experience for everyone using the building.
- Develop strong, professional, long-term relationships with customers.
- Act as the initial contact for visitors and customers entering the building.
- Help coordinate events and meetings held on site.
- Arrange and support customer viewings to assist sales activity.
- Manage the meeting rooms, coworking areas, lounge, and shared amenities while keeping presentation and food-and-beverage standards high where relevant.
- Balance desk-based duties with customer-facing work, managing your own priorities effectively.
- Collect customer insights and keep internal systems updated to support sales and retention efforts.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and wider Bruntwood teams.
- Act as a positive example and encourage wellbeing in the workplace.
- Continuously look for ways to improve service, reduce wasted time, and simplify the customer experience.
- Bring energy, initiative, and practical knowledge to help colleagues and customers achieve the best outcome.
What the team is looking for
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive mindset, adapt well in a fast-moving and evolving environment, and show genuine interest in people. A strong eye for detail, a helpful attitude, and the drive to exceed expectations are essential. Administrative experience is required because the enquiries mailbox will be part of the daily workload. Strong communication skills and confidence when dealing with people in a personable, human way are also important. Experience from hospitality, retail, or other service-led roles will be valuable, along with the ability to stay upbeat and energised throughout the day.
Benefits and additional information
Along with the pay for this role, the business offers a broad package of benefits, including:
- 28 days of annual leave, plus your birthday off, with the option to buy and sell holiday.
- 24 hours of paid volunteering time each year.
- Up to 12 months of sabbatical leave after five years of service.
- A healthcare cash plan covering costs such as optical, dental, and physiotherapy treatment, plus private healthcare available on an opt-in basis.
- Life assurance for all colleagues.
- A pension scheme with employer matching of up to 8%.
- Retail discounts and cashback offers.
- Enhanced maternity and shared parental leave, with 26 weeks fully paid.
- Interest-free learning loans to support further development.
The company also supports charitable giving through the Oglesby Charitable Trust, which has donated more than £25 million since 2001 to causes in arts and culture, education, the environment, medical research, and social and health inequality.
Bruntwood aims to build inclusive cities and places, and it welcomes applicants from varied backgrounds so the workforce reflects the communities it serves. The hiring process is designed to be inclusive, and reasonable adjustments can be discussed for interview if needed. Candidates can expect a response within about a week; if not, they may follow up by email. Successful applicants will go through a one-stage interview process that includes a chance to see the role in action and ask questions.
