Hospitality Assistant

Role overview

We are hiring a Hospitality Assistant for a term-time position of 37.5 hours per week at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in Birmingham, England. This is a hands-on hospitality role focused on delivering attentive service, supporting food and beverage operations, and helping create a welcoming experience in a lively client-facing environment.

What the role involves

• Deliver warm, efficient service to guests and make sure their needs are handled politely and promptly.
• Support the preparation and display of food and drinks in line with company standards.
• Keep dining and service spaces clean, tidy, and well organised throughout the shift.
• Assist the kitchen team with tasks such as plating and garnishing when needed.
• Clear and re-set tables quickly to maintain a smooth guest experience.
• Answer guest questions and requests in a professional and helpful manner.
• Follow food hygiene, health, and safety rules at all times.
• Work closely with colleagues to keep service running smoothly during busy periods.
• Help with stock checks and report supply needs as directed.
• Contribute to a positive, upbeat team atmosphere.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in a customer-facing or hospitality setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage well with a diverse range of guests.
• Good time management, reliability, and punctuality.
• Confidence working in a busy, fast-moving, and pressurised environment.
• Careful attention to detail and a strong focus on cleanliness and presentation.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• A professional manner and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Previous experience in catering or hospitality is desirable.
