Job description
Overview
Nevada Heart and Vascular Center is hiring a full-time Hospital Scheduler in Las Vegas, NV. In this role, you will work under the Hospital Scheduling Supervisor to manage appointment coordination, support patient communication, and assist with front-office and clerical tasks in a fast-paced medical setting.
Core Responsibilities
Your main focus will be to schedule patient exams, answer incoming calls through the phone system, and respond to customer service questions. You will also help ensure appointments are spaced appropriately so physicians have adequate time for examinations and procedures. The role includes maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, updating patient account details, and forwarding patients to the right staff members or physicians when needed. You will also need to complete referral paperwork correctly whenever required.
Administrative and Team Support
In addition to scheduling duties, you may handle copying, emailing, special billing projects, and other clerical support tasks. The position also involves training new team members, helping with departmental goals, participating in staff meetings and seminars, and supporting process improvements. You may be assigned special projects that require research, follow-through, and coordination with the appropriate parties.
Professional Expectations
The role requires you to remain polite and composed, including when dealing with frustrated or upset patients. You must protect sensitive customer and company information, follow department and HR policies, arrive on time for work and meetings, and complete duties in line with established procedures. You may also be expected to help evaluate reports and contribute ideas for better departmental efficiency and service quality.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should be able to communicate effectively by phone and in person, stay organized, manage time well, and pay close attention to detail, especially when checking verification or eligibility issues. You should be comfortable using technology such as word processing and spreadsheet tools, able to collect and interpret data, and capable of working independently in a busy environment.
Physical and Work Conditions
This job requires the visual and hearing ability needed to communicate with coworkers and customers. You should also be able to use standard office equipment such as a PC, copier, fax machine, and multi-line phone. The work environment is indoors, and at times may involve light lifting of up to 20 pounds along with occasional offsite travel.
