Role overview
Astra Crew is seeking a Health Officer for a full-time role based mainly in Kabul Province’s 2nd District, with limited work-from-home flexibility depending on project needs. The position centers on improving health and safety performance across workplace and community settings.
What you will do
- Evaluate health and safety risks and recommend practical controls to reduce them.
- Create, update, and apply health-related policies and procedures.
- Check compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and internal requirements.
- Carry out health assessments in workplaces and community environments.
- Advise on occupational safety and construction safety practices.
- Work with clients, management, community partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen safe and healthy conditions.
- Compile reports, keep records accurate and organized, and share findings and recommendations clearly.
- Track emerging health trends and take part in training or learning activities that support continuous improvement.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should bring strong knowledge of occupational health and workplace safety, along with the ability to spot hazards and put preventive measures in place. Background in community health and effective communication is important for working with varied groups and supporting health initiatives. Familiarity with construction safety standards and best practices is also valuable. A degree or similar academic background in public health, occupational health, environmental health, or a related discipline is preferred. Previous exposure to health and safety inspections, policy work, and regulatory compliance will be an advantage. The role also calls for solid analytical ability, report writing, strong organization, and comfort managing several priorities in a hybrid work setup. Candidates should be able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and also work independently when needed.
Work arrangement
This is a full-time position with an onsite base in the 2nd District, Kabul Province, and some flexibility to work remotely as project requirements allow.
