Job description
About the company
Nudge is building technology aimed at improving lives by creating better ways to interface with the brain. The company’s initial focus is a non-invasive ultrasound platform designed to stimulate and image the brain at high resolution and depth. This work brings together hardware, software, and research in a vertically integrated environment, with the goal of creating products that can ultimately reach millions and then billions of people.
To make that possible, Nudge emphasizes exceptional craftsmanship, ambition toward difficult problems, and consistent execution. The company looks for people who work with rigor, act with integrity, and help raise the standard for everyone around them.
About the role
Nudge is hiring a Head of Workplace Operations to take full ownership of the company’s physical operating environment. This person will keep the office, labs, prototyping areas, and shared infrastructure running smoothly and scaling alongside the business. The position is deeply hands-on and calls for sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to build dependable systems that let technical teams move quickly.
What you will do
- Manage the daily workplace and facilities operations across Nudge’s office, lab, and hardware-development spaces.
- Build and maintain the systems that keep the physical environment dependable, safe, and efficient, covering access control, badging, shipping and receiving, inventory, supplies, maintenance, repairs, vendors, and workplace services.
- Work closely with hardware, research, and engineering teams to understand their space and infrastructure needs and ensure the environment supports fast, reliable execution.
- Lead relationships with building management, contractors, service providers, and other key vendors while maintaining a high standard for responsiveness, quality, and completion.
- Own planning for space, moves, build-outs, expansions, and reconfigurations as the company grows.
- Spot and fix operational issues before they turn into major blockers for engineering or research.
- Handle facilities budgeting, purchasing, and expense tracking, and help leadership make informed tradeoff decisions.
- Jump into urgent operational problems when speed, judgment, and dependability matter more than strict role boundaries.
What we are looking for
- Background in facilities, workplace, lab, or other physical operations within a fast-moving company, ideally in hardware, R&D, manufacturing, or robotics.
- Strong decision-making ability and the skill to prioritize effectively in a dynamic setting with multiple competing needs.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and dependable work habits, with a sharp eye for anything broken, missing, delayed, or at risk of failure.
- Comfort with being hands-on and personally doing the work when needed.
- Experience working with vendors, contractors, and service providers, along with the ability to enforce accountability and high standards.
- An operations-first, systems-oriented mindset that improves root causes rather than only solving immediate issues.
- Clear communication skills and a strong preference for speed and follow-through.
- A strong commitment to workplace quality and the understanding that excellent operations help every team perform better.
- High integrity and sound professional judgment.
