Job description

Position Overview

The Head of Security is responsible for evaluating the entire campus to maintain a protected, welcoming setting for visitors, performers, and staff. This role advises on security measures across all areas where risks may arise and leads the security team to support the Peace Center’s standards for guest safety and quality service.

The position also oversees security coverage and staffing for events based on the event schedule and venue location. Coverage includes the Concert Hall, Gunter Theatre, Pavilion Stage, Genevieve’s, Huguenot Loft, and the newer venues, Mockingbird and The Coach Factory.

Key Duties

  • Recruit, train, motivate, and assess security officers, SLED-certified personnel, and stage door security staff.
  • Carry out routine risk reviews across the Peace Center campus.
  • Act as the primary authority on physical security and personal safety matters.
  • Observe guest conduct and intervene appropriately to help maintain a safe and pleasant environment.
  • Control access to stage, backstage, and loading dock zones.
  • Coordinate truck and bus movement, along with parking, during event load-ins.
  • Support campus-wide traffic movement and crowd control.
  • Complete post-event walkthroughs to confirm all spaces have been cleared properly.
  • Design and deliver security and safety training for security staff.
  • Manage security contract operations, including standard procedures, post orders, staffing levels, scheduling, and budget planning.
  • Handle scheduling and payroll for the security team.
  • Oversee evening and weekend shows.
  • Make sure post-event reports are completed.
  • Ensure adherence to Peace Center procedures and City of Greenville policies.
  • Work with Greenville public safety partners to sustain strong relationships with law enforcement and the Peace Center.
  • Serve as the main contact for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and track government communications to anticipate possible disruptions from specific or general threats.
  • Develop standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Confirm that all officers are properly registered with SLED.
  • Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.

Additional Information

This is a leadership role focused on event security, team supervision, operational planning, and coordination with public safety agencies across a multi-venue campus.
