Job description

Overview

Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview is a Jesuit Catholic boys’ school in Lane Cove West, New South Wales. The College provides a well-rounded education for day and boarding students from Years 5 through 12. It is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking educational leader to take on the role of Head of Professional Learning on a fixed-term basis.

Role purpose

In this position, you will work closely with key stakeholders to strengthen teaching and learning across the College. The focus of the role is to design and roll out high-quality, evidence-informed professional learning for staff so that classroom practice continues to improve.

Employment details

This is a full-time, 12-month contract beginning in Term 4, 2026. The role also includes a 0.2 FTE teaching load.

What you will do

  • Lead the planning and delivery of professional learning programs for College staff.
  • Use research and evidence-based approaches to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build a strong culture of instructional development.
  • Support teachers through mentoring and development-focused conversations.
  • Contribute to teacher review and development processes within the College.

Skills and experience

The College is looking for a teacher-leader who can model excellent classroom practice and who understands the NSW curriculum framework, the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, and NSW accreditation processes, including NESA and ISTA. Familiarity with the AITSL Australian Teacher Performance and Development Framework is also expected.
