Job description
About the Company
This healthcare technology business combines artificial intelligence, clinical information, and an extensive network of research locations to make clinical trials more efficient. Its work focuses on finding suitable patients faster, shortening study recruitment timelines, and helping advance new treatments across several therapeutic areas. The company’s platform and research network are built to lower the hurdles to clinical research while improving access for both patients and healthcare professionals.
Role Overview
The organization is seeking a Head/VP of Operations to lead the growth and execution of a biological specimen collection business. This position will shape the commercial direction of the offering, establish the operating model, and build the function from the ground up while ensuring strong delivery, customer satisfaction, and scalable performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the strategy and commercial roadmap for the biological specimen collections business, including the service model, ideal customer segments, market positioning, and scaling approach.
- Create and roll out go-to-market plans such as pricing structures, sales enablement materials, customer-facing messaging, and commercial workflows.
- Design the operational foundation for the business by putting in place systems, processes, infrastructure, and repeatable delivery methods.
- Own vendor management across the full lifecycle, from sourcing and selection through contract discussions, onboarding, and ongoing performance tracking.
- Work closely with business development colleagues to surface opportunities, support sponsor discussions, and help convert new study partnerships.
- Coordinate with operational stakeholders to identify, onboard, and manage research sites that can participate in specimen collection studies.
- Be accountable for overall business performance by tracking KPIs, ensuring quality execution, maintaining client confidence, and driving continuous improvement.
- Recruit, guide, and develop a cross-functional operations team while setting clear expectations, building training programs, and promoting a high-ownership culture.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required; advanced education such as an MBA, MPH, or a similar qualification is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in strategic and operational leadership, ideally gained in management consulting, fast-growing start-ups, or similar business-building settings.
- Proven ability to launch and scale new business capabilities, manage cross-functional initiatives, oversee vendors, and support commercial expansion.
- Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills, along with the ability to work independently and deliver in fast-moving, uncertain environments.
Compensation and Benefits
The role offers a competitive salary along with a 401(k) plan and healthcare/insurance coverage.
