Job description
Role Overview
Virio is hiring a Head of Operations to work directly with the CEO and help turn company strategy into disciplined execution. The company is developing a next-generation B2B go-to-market stack and supports fast-growing B2B businesses with executive-led content designed to generate revenue.
This is a full-time, in-office role based in San Francisco. The company wants someone who can build structure from the ground up, use AI to automate operational work, and create the systems needed to support growth in both headcount and revenue.
Compensation
The role offers a base salary of $150,000 to $250,000 per year, plus a cash bonus of $25,000 to $50,000 and equity at the top end of the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Create operating systems and workflows from scratch and continue improving them as the company expands.
- Use AI to design agents and automations that handle operational tasks rather than adding headcount.
- Work with the founders on company strategy and convert that strategy into clear execution plans for the team.
- Oversee cross-functional operations across recruiting, people functions, finance-related tasks, legal operations, IT, and compliance.
- Build the tools and infrastructure needed to scale without creating operational disorder.
- Spot process bottlenecks early and resolve them before they escalate.
- Make decisions using data and first-principles thinking instead of relying on process for its own sake.
Requirements
- 3 to 7 years of experience in a Head of Operations, Operations Chief of Staff, or similar role.
- Experience building operations from the ground up at an early-stage startup, rather than joining an already mature ops function.
- Proven experience scaling with a company from early stage to $50M+ ARR and understanding the challenges at each stage.
- Strong comfort with AI-native workflows and the ability to build systems and agents, not just use software tools.
- Ability to think strategically and execute effectively, with genuine enjoyment of both.
- High ownership, fast learning, and a bias toward action.
- Independent, first-principles thinking and the ability to avoid relying on legacy ways of working.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and bringing structure to it.
- Preferred background includes founding or being part of a founding team.
- Helpful experience in GTM, recruiting, or people operations.
- Experience in AI-native, tool-heavy environments is a plus.
Traits That Succeed at Virio
- Self-directed and proactive, with strong initiative.
- Calm and effective under pressure or in high-stakes situations.
- Focused on outcomes and consistent follow-through.
- Comfortable working close to decision-making and accountability.
- Low-ego, high-trust, and deeply accountable.
Benefits
- Competitive overall compensation tied to impact and ownership.
- Meaningful equity upside as part of the founding team.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) plan.
- All working meals provided.
- Relocation assistance for San Francisco.
- Annual company-wide offsite.
- Direct access to founders and leadership.
- Fast growth, high ownership, and a strong in-person culture focused on excellence.
Work Location
This position is based in San Francisco and must be performed in person at the office. It is a full-time, onsite role only.
