Job description
Role Overview
This role is focused on protecting and strengthening the mental health, emotional wellbeing, and psychological resilience of the SBS Transit Bus Business workforce. The person in this position will help put preventive wellbeing programmes into action, offer early intervention support, and coordinate referrals to suitable services.
Mental Health Support and Early Intervention
You will be expected to identify early signs of distress, assess employee wellbeing needs, and support staff dealing with stress, fatigue, emotional strain, or work-related difficulties. The role also includes helping employees remain safe and productive at work, tracking case progress, and suggesting suitable support measures. You will provide one-to-one or group support on coping skills, stress management, and emotional guidance within the limits of a non-clinical workplace setting. Accurate case notes and confidential records must be maintained in line with data protection requirements and organisational policies.
Preventive Wellbeing
The position involves designing, rolling out, and reviewing mental health and wellbeing programmes that help employees build stronger resilience. You will also prepare and share educational materials and resources related to mental wellness for the SBS Transit Bus Business workforce.
Advisory, Training and Capability Building
You will guide and train supervisors and appointed Care Support Officers in spotting early warning signs of mental distress, handling supportive conversations, and using first-line conversation and referral processes. The role also requires advising supervisors on people management and staff welfare practices, as well as identifying relevant resources and coordinating services with internal or external professionals and agencies to meet workforce needs.
Crisis Response and Post-Incident Support
This role includes providing immediate support and first-line psychological intervention to employees when urgent situations arise. You will also follow up on cases, monitor recovery, and escalate emergencies to management with recommendations for the next steps, always keeping employee safety as the top priority.
Stakeholder Coordination and Referral
You will work with external professionals, healthcare providers, and community agencies to arrange referrals for employees needing specialised assistance. Internally, you will collaborate with depots, HR, Safety, Training, and Operations teams to ensure employees receive comprehensive support.
Management Reporting
You will prepare monthly case reports for the Care Network Office and provide recommendations and insights that help improve employee care support initiatives over time.
Job Requirements
Candidates should hold a degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related discipline. Membership in the Singapore Psychological Society is required. At least 5 years of professional counselling-related experience is needed, and having 5 or more years of experience with frontline, transport, uniformed, shift-based, or safety-critical workforces is an advantage. Experience in counselling, staff support, or mental health-related roles is also expected. The role requires the ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
