Job description
Overview
OneFortyOne is seeking an experienced forestry professional to join its Green Triangle Forests team in a full-time Harvesting Forester role based at the GT Forests Office in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
Role Summary
This position focuses on overseeing, directing, and coordinating harvesting work so that customer needs and business targets are achieved. The role calls for strong harvesting operations knowledge, hands-on contractor management, and the ability to support safe, efficient performance across the operation.
Key Duties
- Plan, supervise, and track harvesting activities in line with harvest plans, with close attention to safety, quality, and contractor control.
- Work with internal teams and outside stakeholders to manage expectations, assess contractor performance, and put quality assurance measures into practice.
- Promote a strong safety culture by advising, guiding, coaching, and coordinating contractors on risk management and all health and safety requirements.
- Examine and interpret data to improve fibre recovery and contribute to ongoing operational improvement.
Candidate Profile
- You should bring substantial experience in forest harvesting operations, or a relevant tertiary qualification along with practical harvesting experience.
- You need solid knowledge of commercial forestry, including harvesting, contract management, and safety standards.
- You should be able to build productive working relationships and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- You must be comfortable using technology and drawing practical solutions from data.
- A current driver’s licence is required.
Additional Requirements
The successful applicant must be prepared to take part in fire readiness and fire response activities, and to complete regular health assessments when required.
