Role overview

As the UK’s leading local news publisher, Newsquest Media Group operates more than 200 news brands and 29 magazines across print and digital, reaches over 50 million monthly online users and over 4 million weekly print readers, and includes businesses such as s1jobs, s1homes, Exchange and Mart, and Newsquest Specialist Media. USA Today is the parent company.

  • Handle a broad range of HR administration across the employee journey, including onboarding, contract updates, and leavers.

  • Maintain HR systems and employee files with accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Support the onboarding and induction experience for new joiners.
  • Take meeting minutes when required.
  • Work with the wider HR team to ensure a consistent, supportive service.

What the role requires

  • Strong organisation and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence in handling several tasks at once and setting priorities effectively.
  • A discreet and professional approach when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and learning new systems quickly.

Benefits

  • 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays and your birthday off.
  • An option to buy additional holiday for extra flexibility.
  • Clear career progression and ongoing training.
  • Pension scheme.
