Job description

Role Overview

Collen is looking for a Graphic Designer to become part of its internal marketing and communications team in Greater Dublin. This is a marketing-focused position centred on producing premium visual content that strengthens the Collen brand, supports business development, and enhances company communications, while reflecting the organisation’s core values of Integrity, Teamwork, Sustainability, and Safety.

As a Tier 1 contractor operating in a highly competitive environment, Collen relies on its visual identity to showcase its strengths. In this role, you will create compelling brand assets, polished presentations, and visually effective support materials that help drive business growth, protect reputation, and reinforce the company’s commitment to quality, collaboration, responsible delivery, and safe working practices.

You will report to the Marketing & Communications Manager.

Key Responsibilities

The role spans brand design, digital content, proposals, motion, internal communications, and website support. You will be expected to create work that is both visually strong and strategically aligned with business objectives.

Brand & Identity

  • Apply and maintain brand standards consistently across all communication channels and touchpoints.
  • Produce visual assets that clearly express the company’s identity, values, and positioning.
  • Support brand campaigns from early concept development through final delivery.

Digital & Social

  • Create engaging social media graphics for LinkedIn, Instagram, and other emerging platforms.
  • Develop creative assets for digital advertising, including display ads, paid social, and email campaigns.
  • Build and manage branded templates in tools such as Canva Pro, Adobe Express, and Figma so non-design team members can use them effectively.

Proposals & Client Submission Materials

  • Design polished client-facing and business development materials with clear structure, strong visuals, and consistent branding.
  • Create pitch decks, capability statements, and presentation documents that support commercial goals.
  • Collaborate with client submission and commercial teams to turn technical information into clear, engaging visual stories.

Video & Motion

  • Assist with short-form video, motion graphics, and other digital motion assets.
  • Edit and assemble video content using footage captured on site, at events, and during interviews.
  • Create animated explainers and infographics that make complex project information easier to understand.

Content Marketing

  • Design thought leadership materials such as whitepapers, case studies, reports, and brochures.
  • Convert data and statistics into infographics that are easy to share and understand.
  • Prepare photography briefs and direct photo shoots when needed.

Internal Communications

  • Support internal communication efforts with newsletters, intranet graphics, and event materials that strengthen awareness, teamwork, and connection across the business.
  • Create signage, exhibition stand graphics, and printed marketing collateral.
  • Prepare briefs for branded merchandise and promotional items for suppliers.

Website & UX Support

  • Assist with visual website updates, landing page design, and user experience improvements.
  • Work alongside web developers to protect design quality and consistency online.
  • Produce SEO-friendly visual content such as featured images, banners, and thumbnails, with attention to clarity, accessibility, and digital best practice.

Experience and Technical Skills

The ideal candidate will have professional graphic design experience, preferably with some exposure to construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services. Experience creating presentations, proposals, and other corporate materials is highly desirable. Both agency and in-house backgrounds will be considered, with the main emphasis placed on portfolio quality and relevant experience.

A degree or similar qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field is preferred, though strong portfolio evidence and practical experience will also be taken into account.

Strong capability in Adobe Creative Suite is essential, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. You should also be comfortable using Figma for collaborative design and prototyping, and be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects for video editing and motion work.

Experience with AI-driven design tools such as Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, DALL·E, or similar platforms is desirable, along with the ability to use them responsibly and effectively. You should also have a solid working knowledge of Canva Pro and the ability to build practical branded templates.

Basic HTML/CSS understanding would be an advantage. Familiarity with tools such as CapCut, Descript, or similar short-form video platforms is also useful.

AI & Emerging Technology

  • Show practical experience of using AI tools within the design process to improve speed, quality, and creative output.
  • Understand how to write prompts for image generation and how to achieve commercially usable results.
  • Demonstrate curiosity about new platforms and emerging design technologies.

Digital Marketing Knowledge

  • Understand the design requirements of different digital formats, including file types, sizes, aspect ratios, and platform-specific standards.
  • Be familiar with accessibility principles, including WCAG, as they relate to digital design.
  • Have a basic understanding of how design contributes to SEO and conversion rate optimisation.

Soft Skills & Working Style

  • Bring a portfolio that shows range, from corporate communications to creative campaigns.
  • Be able to interpret briefs, contribute ideas, and offer feedback in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Have strong project management skills and the ability to juggle several workstreams at once.
  • Be comfortable interacting with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and external clients.
  • Work well collaboratively across teams while also being able to operate independently.
  • Be adaptable and comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change.

Success Measures

Within the first 90 days, you are expected to review existing brand assets, identify quick improvements, establish yourself as the primary design resource across the business, and deliver work that raises the quality, consistency, and values-led expression of the Collen brand.

By the end of the first year, you should have created a strong template and asset library that helps the wider team produce consistently on-brand content, supported high-quality business development material, and improved how Collen communicates its values, culture, and market reputation.

Benefits

  • A generous benefits package and overall rewards offering.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Direct involvement in the marketing function, with your ideas actively considered.
  • Access to the latest design software, licences, and ongoing professional development.
  • The chance to shape a role with meaningful room for growth.

Additional Information

This role is based in Greater Dublin and is described as an onsite position, although the benefits mention flexible hybrid working. The opportunity is full time.
