Job description

Role overview

This is a permanent graduate position in Singapore that runs as a 12-month rotational programme across multiple Investment Services teams. The aim is to help the graduate explore several functions, deepen technical know-how, and build professional capability within the investment organisation.

Rotation areas

  • Fixed Income, Equity, Funds, and Private Markets research and advisory
  • Investment advisory and discretionary portfolio management services
  • Product governance and product management

Learning and development focus

With guidance from team leaders and heads, the graduate will gain exposure to key areas of private banking investment services, including:

  • Private banking investment advisory structures and workflows
  • Investment process and portfolio construction within discretionary portfolio management
  • Selection of equity, fixed income, and external fund managers
  • Core building blocks used in investment portfolios
  • Product risk classification and client suitability standards for private banking

By the end of the rotations, the graduate is expected to develop capability in:

  • Asset class knowledge, including the screening of investment products for opportunities
  • Portfolio management and construction fundamentals
  • Market profiling and support for marketing pitches and new product propositions
  • Market research and analysis focused on investing for high-net-worth individuals and entities
  • Product management and an understanding of the product control environment within the product governance framework
  • Performing regulated activities

Regulated and client-facing work

As part of integration into the Investment Services team and progression toward specialisation in one or more asset classes or services, the graduate will participate in regulated activities under the supervision of specialists, advisers, and portfolio managers.

  • Support relationship managers and advisers in explaining investment propositions during client pitches and meetings
  • Coordinate timely and regular updates on key instruments held by clients for relationship managers as part of post-sales advisory support
  • Help prepare investment proposals and client/prospect presentations
  • Work with portfolio managers on portfolio construction and rebalancing
  • Assist asset class specialists with research and with the preparation of research and marketing materials
  • Contribute ideas for strategic and tactical trades suited to the bank’s client base

Additional responsibilities

  • Support product specialists in tracking investment product exposure and preparing performance updates for clients and front-office teams
  • Carry out market analysis across covered sectors and companies in the UBP product universe and share research communication with front-office teams
  • Coordinate with business management, compliance, middle office, and other stakeholders to ensure investment product offerings and discretionary/advisory services remain aligned with UBP policy
  • Monitor client portfolios and flag house-view changes, performance alerts, investment opportunities, and rebalancing needs to front-office teams
  • Support the rollout of investment campaigns and global launches through product training, marketing materials, order taking, client meetings, and joint calls
