Job description
Role overview
Rothelowman’s Perth studio is seeking a hybrid Graduate Architect and Interior Designer to join its in-person team. The studio is led by Principal Kylee Schoonens, whose understanding of WA planning and government relationships has contributed to a number of major mixed-use projects in the state. The local team is supported by Associates who provide continuity and technical depth, and the Perth office collaborates closely with the Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney studios as part of a wider national practice.
This role suits someone who enjoys working across the boundary between architecture and interiors and wants to contribute to a multidisciplinary environment focused on exploration, collaboration and ambitious design outcomes. The position is based in Perth and is intended for candidates currently living in Perth who hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
Role details
This is a full-time, studio-based position for a Graduate Architect and Interior Designer with approximately 3 to 5 years of experience. You will contribute to concept development, design integration and documentation across different project types. The work will move between shaping building form and refining interior spaces, with an emphasis on resolving both scales thoughtfully and cohesively.
You will work within a supportive team led by principals who value strong design thinking, professional integrity and a collaborative approach.
Qualifications and experience
- A Master of Architecture or a comparable qualification in Interior Architecture
- Working toward registration is acceptable, and support may be provided with that process
- Strong capability in Revit is essential
- Additional experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino and Enscape will be viewed favourably
- A solid grounding in both architectural and interior design principles
- Hands-on experience in design development, documentation and detailing
- Clear communication ability, including confident report writing and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to coordinated documentation packages
- Understanding of sustainable and environmentally responsive design approaches
- A proactive team attitude with the ability to both lead and learn
- Good organisation, self-direction and the ability to manage several deadlines at once
- Enthusiasm to develop within a national practice that values bold ideas
Candidate profile
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in the overlap between architecture and interiors, enjoys navigating different scales of design and is motivated by creating well-resolved, thoughtful outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring energy, precision and a willingness to grow within a collaborative national team.
Additional information
This role is open to applicants who are currently based in Perth and who are Australian citizens or permanent residents. The practice supports growth toward registration and values people who are eager to contribute to a broader network of studios.
What we value
The team places importance on radical exploration, smart design decisions, collaboration across studios and the ability to deliver work that is both conceptually strong and highly detailed.
