Job description

Job Summary

The Government Relations Manager is entrusted with building and sustaining productive connections with government authorities, regulators, and important public-sector stakeholders. The position focuses on keeping the business compliant with legal and regulatory obligations, staying ahead of policy shifts, and representing the company’s priorities in a way that supports broader business goals.

Government and Regulatory Engagement

  • Develop and nurture effective working relationships with government departments, regulators, and public-sector contacts.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and relevant government entities.
  • Attend meetings, forums, and formal interactions on behalf of the organization.

Policy Monitoring and Advisory

  • Continuously follow legislative, regulatory, and policy developments that could affect the business.
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory exposure, potential benefits, and emerging concerns.
  • Draft policy summaries, analytical reports, and practical recommendations.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Support adherence to all applicable local laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Help internal teams interpret and apply relevant compliance obligations.
  • Spot possible regulatory risks early and contribute to mitigation plans.

Advocacy and Strategic Initiatives

  • Create and execute government relations plans that support business priorities.
  • Work toward policy and regulatory outcomes that benefit the organization.
  • Assist with licensing, permit, and approval-related processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance, PR, and Operations teams on government-related matters.
  • Maintain effective ties with industry bodies and outside partners.
  • Coordinate corporate messaging and communications connected to government affairs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • Between 5 and 10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, or a similar function.
  • Strong knowledge of governmental structures, regulatory systems, and policy-making processes.
  • Excellent ability in communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Comfortable interacting with senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of integrity and professional conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with government bodies, regulatory agencies, or multinational companies is an advantage.
  • A well-established network within government institutions is preferred.
  • Understanding of the financial or banking sector, where relevant, is a plus.
