Role Summary

This full-time, on-site Governess - Private Tutor position is based in Dubai and involves providing tailored academic support to school-going children. The role centers on planning and delivering daily lessons that match the child’s curriculum and learning objectives, while also building strong study routines and encouraging steady academic growth.

Key Duties

• Design and teach daily lessons suited to the child’s school syllabus and individual learning needs.
• Set up organized study timetables and oversee homework completion.
• Prepare educational exercises and learning activities that reinforce classroom concepts.
• Monitor academic performance and keep track of progress over time.
• Help children develop disciplined study habits and a stronger approach to critical thinking.
• Encourage a constructive, motivated attitude toward learning.
• Work with parents and, when required, schoolteachers to keep expectations aligned.
• Plan enrichment activities where appropriate and maintain a safe, respectful learning atmosphere at home.

Qualifications

• Strong tutoring or teaching ability, with prior experience supporting primary and/or secondary school curricula.
• Capability to build lesson plans, develop learning materials, and adjust teaching techniques for different ages and learning styles.
• Excellent spoken and written English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage small groups or one-to-one learning with clear structure, boundaries, and positive discipline.
• Previous work in a private home, as a private tutor, governess/governor, or in a similar educational role is a strong advantage.
• A relevant academic qualification such as a bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Pedagogy, or a related subject.
• Professional conduct, discretion, and cultural awareness, especially in international or multicultural environments.
• Strong organization and time management for handling schedules, activities, and academic milestones.
• Readiness to coordinate closely with parents and, where needed, school staff to ensure shared goals.
• First aid training, or a willingness to complete it, along with a clear background check in line with child-safety standards.
