The General Service Technician role focuses on non-technical automotive work such as oil changes, tire and wheel services, customer transportation, parts pickups, and keeping the shop clean and presentable.

Compensation

Pay for this position is $17 to $20 per hour, based on experience.

Key Duties

• Carry out tire mounting and removal, wheel balancing, and tire rotations.
• Perform oil changes and other basic maintenance tasks as directed by the Shop Manager or Store Manager.
• While completing basic services, note visible vehicle issues or safety concerns and document them through the company’s inspection or repair order process.
• Keep the service area, tire storage, showroom, and exterior areas tidy and organized.
• Transport customers safely to and from home or work using the company vehicle.
• Collect parts, supplies, tires, and other items from vendors or the corporate office using the company vehicle.
• Drive company vehicles responsibly, courteously, and in compliance with traffic laws.
• Perform state safety and emissions inspections in line with company and state standards.
• Follow all safety rules and report concerns to management promptly.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A current, valid driver’s license is required.
• Must hold a current or expired State Inspector License, or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hiring.
• Basic understanding of engine bay components, mechanical systems, and undercarriage assemblies.
• Availability to work Monday through Saturday.

Working Conditions

This role involves exposure to moderate to loud noise, dust, exhaust, lubricants, petroleum-based products, vapors, caustic substances, and other hazardous or non-hazardous materials. The workspace may also experience very hot or very cold temperatures depending on outdoor conditions.

Physical Demands

• Able to stand for up to eight hours per day and move around the shop as needed.
• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands and arms with a full range of motion.
• Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to hear and speak clearly.
• Vision must be adequate for color recognition, depth perception, and refocusing.
