Role overview
We are hiring an enthusiastic and motivated General Operative / Loop General Operative (Shift) to join a Dublin-based field operations team. This is a practical, physically demanding position in a busy operational setting, supporting the installation, upkeep, and repair of intelligent transport systems (ITS) infrastructure across road networks.
You will work with a close team to help deliver safety-critical roadside and motorway technology that keeps traffic flowing safely and efficiently. The work combines installation, maintenance, civil works, reactive fault attendance, and workshop preparation tasks.
This position follows a shift schedule and requires strong attention to safety, workmanship, and customer service.
Shift pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 17:30 to 02:00
- Friday: 17:30 to 01:00
Key duties
- Install and maintain ITS and CITS equipment to a high standard.
- Carry out loop cutting, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Respond to faults and support reactive maintenance tasks within your training level.
- Assist with installation and repair work on roadside technology equipment.
- Support civil works linked to project and operational needs.
- Prepare, assemble, and test equipment in the workshop.
- Perform lamping, cleaning, inspections, and routine maintenance work.
- Complete site surveys and inspections.
- Accurately finish and return project paperwork, timesheets, job sheets, and related documents on time.
- Keep company vehicles, tools, equipment, and PPE in safe working condition.
- Support trainees, apprentices, and other team members by sharing knowledge and guidance.
- Follow company Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and Environmental procedures at all times.
Day-to-day work
- Work outdoors in live roadside and infrastructure settings.
- Support installation and maintenance activities on ITS projects and reactive jobs.
- Carry out hands-on physical tasks, including civil works and equipment installation.
- Work safely at heights and in live traffic environments.
- Follow safe systems of work and RAMS at all times.
- Organise and prepare materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles for daily work.
- Attend training sessions and toolbox talks to support development.
- Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and operations teams to deliver project results.
- Help meet maintenance KPIs and operational targets.
Candidate profile
We are looking for someone who is reliable, motivated, professional, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a physical, outdoor role. The position also requires flexibility for shift work, standby, and callout rotas.
Essential requirements
- Experience in civils, construction, or infrastructure work.
- A full B and C driving licence.
- Experience operating machinery or plant.
- Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role.

- Previous work in the traffic sector or another field-based environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
