About IDM
IDM gGmbH is a non-profit Health-Tech company focused on building AI-driven products that are actively used by medical professionals. Their technology is deployed at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and other hospital networks across Germany. IDM develops two main solutions: ARGO, a clinical workstation unifying fragmented hospital IT systems, and ORPHEUS, an AI platform for medical documentation and clinical natural language processing. Operating as an agile startup, IDM offers swift development cycles and empowers engineers with significant responsibilities regarding architectural decisions.
Role Overview
As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for end-to-end development of features ranging from refined user interface components to robust API endpoints. Your work impacts products actively used by clinical staff daily, requiring close collaboration with machine learning engineers and medical professionals. This is not a mere ticket-processing role; you will influence technological choices, architecture, and product direction. Engineers who prioritize code quality, user experience, and developer ergonomics beyond their individual tasks are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Develop clinical applications end-to-end by building frontends and integrating them with C# and Python backends for ARGO and ORPHEUS.
- Design and implement component architectures in Vue.js/Nuxt, ensuring clean patterns, effective state management, and thorough testing.
- Create and maintain APIs and services using C#/.NET 8 (EF Core, FastEndpoints) and Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy).
- Handle DevOps and infrastructure tasks with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus to guarantee reliable deployments.
- Contribute to architectural improvements by proposing and applying enhancements to tech stack, design patterns, and development workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally by working directly with ML engineers, product owners, and clinical partners to translate requirements into effective software solutions.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Developer.
- Strong expertise in frontend development with Vue.js (preferred) or React, and willingness to transition if needed.
- Solid backend development skills in C#/.NET (EF Core, xUnit) or a strong intent to learn.
- Proficiency with Git, code review practices, and automated testing procedures.
- Experience working with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- German language proficiency at B2 level or higher, essential for collaboration with clinical partners.
Desired Additional Experience
- Python backend development experience (FastAPI, Pydantic).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, or Terraform.
- Experience with Electron for desktop applications.
- Understanding of Keycloak, S3 storage solutions, or monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Interest in healthcare technologies or AI applications.
- Previous involvement in agile startup environments.
Technical Stack
- Frontend: Vue.js, Nuxt, Electron, TypeScript
- Backend: C#/.NET 8 (EF Core, FastEndpoints), Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy)
