FT Cake Decorator

Overview

This role sits within Retail Operations and supports the Deli Bakery Department at Food Lion’s Albany, Georgia store. The position is focused on delivering dependable customer service, keeping department standards consistent, and helping reduce shrink by following approved operating practices.

Primary Purpose

The Cake Decorator is responsible for providing high-quality service in the Deli Bakery area while following the standard practice manual. The role supports sales growth through strong customer service and helps limit waste by using procedures correctly.

Responsibilities

• Keep a welcoming, customer-focused environment with fast, friendly, and accurate service that supports a positive shopping trip.
• Work cooperatively and courteously with fellow associates.
• Use knowledge of ingredients, mixes, icings, and color coordination to complete product work.
• Follow production standards for processing all products.
• Use technical manuals correctly for product handling, label placement, and related tasks.
• Maintain clean, sanitary department conditions and handle food safely during preparation.
• Carry out ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise according to company policies and guidelines.
• Follow all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices thoroughly.
• Comply with food safety and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Identify unsafe conditions and take action to prevent associate or customer accidents.
• Report any associate or customer accident to the Manager on Duty according to established procedures.
• Follow all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the required Food Lion uniform, apron, and name badge, and maintain a neat appearance in line with the dress code.
• Use company tools such as ACIS and CAO for inventory and ordering tasks.
• Complete CBT modules, the training packet, and training aid courses successfully.
• Handle any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service abilities.
• Willingness and ability to learn multiple tasks and the technical aspects of the role.
• Ability to apply technical information to solve problems.
• Must satisfy the minimum age requirement for assigned job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Requirements

• Use computers and other communication systems needed for the job.
• Repeat hand and arm motions throughout the shift.
• Bend and lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs on occasion.
• Remain standing for the full shift and walk short distances frequently.
• Work around a range of cleaning and packaging substances.
• Reach and grasp often at waist level, and sometimes above shoulder or below waist level.
• Meet the expected volume and activity standards for the position.
• Tolerate hot and cold temperature extremes for up to 20 minutes at a time.
