Job description

Role overview

This position supports CAE’s mission of delivering safe, dependable, and high-quality training by keeping flight and cabin crew training devices fully operational, qualified, and ready for use. The role involves hands-on technical support, routine maintenance, early-stage fault diagnosis, and close coordination with the wider technical team.

Key duties

  • Provide support for flight simulator training devices and/or cabin crew training devices by responding to maintenance requests, and managing device setup, conversions, and demonstrations.
  • Independently complete preventive maintenance tasks and daily readiness checks across devices and related systems. Review and approve the work completed by Simulator Support Assistants on more involved tasks, and keep all PMT/DR documentation current and accessible.
  • Carry out recurring QTG runs and handle initial troubleshooting using schematics plus aircraft and device system references. Use the Maintenance Management System to log, monitor, and review maintenance work.
  • Assist with recurring database and content updates, including Nav DB, Terr DB, OIS, EFB charts, documents, performance data, and IOS lesson plan uploads, as well as related troubleshooting. Ensure update records are complete and accurate.
  • Track consumables and tooling, maintain stock levels, and submit requests so the team has the materials needed to complete PMT and DR work.
  • Support operational logistics such as yearly inventories, store rearrangement, packing, and shipping preparation. Perform housekeeping and administrative tasks for the Technical Services team when required.
  • Follow CAE’s local and global environmental, health, and safety standards and safe working practices, while taking responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.

Requirements

  • Technical college diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or an aviation-related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with flight simulators.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships.
  • Good understanding of computer architecture, networking, operating systems, and programming languages, with the ability to make small software adjustments.
  • Solid technical skills in both hardware and software, including familiarity with simulator-related issues across motion, visual, avionics, flight dynamics, and aircraft systems.
  • Practical knowledge of different aircraft types, including commercial jetliners.
  • Clear understanding of aircraft and training device terminology.
  • Working knowledge of commercial aviation training.
  • Awareness of local and international regulatory frameworks, such as EASA and UAE DGCA, as they apply to FSTDs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
