Job description

About the Role

Join Suna Health as a founding UI/UX Engineer to shape how the first wearable device for gut and nutrition health will look and feel on both web and mobile platforms. This full-time, onsite role is based in London and offers a competitive salary along with equity in a small founding team environment. You will have the unique opportunity to design all user-facing interfaces from initial concepts through coded implementation with no handoffs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of user interfaces and user experiences across every screen, flow, and interaction state from initial sketches to shipped products.
  • Create and maintain a cohesive design system including typography, color schemes, motion, and UI components, establishing one visual language for both web and app platforms.
  • Translate complex gut health and body data into intuitive visuals such as charts and ring diagrams that simplify user understanding.
  • Develop the complete web experience including suna.health, onboarding processes, and user account management ensuring parity with the app.

Candidate Profile

  • Highly autonomous with a proactive mindset to identify and complete necessary tasks without guidance.
  • Proven ability to ship interfaces that real users engage with, supported by a portfolio or live examples beyond basic resumes.
  • Comfortable operating in both design software like Figma and coding environments to build what you design.
  • Attention to design details with a personal standard for perfection in flow and visual spacing.
  • Utilizes AI tools such as Claude or Cursor efficiently to enhance daily work processes.
  • Adaptable to the inherent challenges of early-stage consumer hardware and capable of making decisions with limited information.
  • Committed to long-term mission-driven work rather than frequent job changes.

Preferred Extras

  • Creates original projects beyond requirements such as custom fonts, games, or innovative tools.
  • Maintains a personal website that showcases experimental design or technical play.
  • Has an artistic eye through hobbies like drawing, photography, film, or music.
  • Brings fresh interface ideas not previously seen by the team.
  • Experience with wearables such as Oura or WHOOP or recognized beautiful apps.
  • Engages in biohacking or has deep interest in niche areas.
  • Approaches work with resourcefulness and scrappiness by default.

Disqualifiers

  • No genuine interest in health technology.
  • High-maintenance personality.
  • History of frequent job changes.
  • Motivated by fame or vanity metrics over the company's mission.
  • Expectation of a strict 9-to-5 schedule, which the role does not offer.
