Role overview
We are seeking a dependable Foodservice Worker to support school cafeteria operations in Academy, Northern Region, Uganda. This full-time onsite role is focused on preparing and serving meals for students, staff, and visitors while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment.
The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, follows routines carefully, and works well as part of a team. You will contribute to day-to-day kitchen efficiency and help deliver a positive meal experience for the school community.
What you will do
- Prepare and serve meals in line with recipes, production records, and food safety requirements.
- Keep the kitchen, serving areas, and related spaces clean, organized, and safe.
- Restock serving stations, salad bars, and milk coolers as needed.
- Handle food storage, rotation, and sanitation tasks according to proper procedures.
- Serve students, staff, and visitors in a polite and professional manner.
- Help receive deliveries and arrange inventory.
- Sweep, mop, and remove waste when required.
- Follow all applicable local, state, federal, and company health regulations.
- Support teammates, including covering shifts or stepping in when needed.
- Complete reports and other assigned tasks within required deadlines.
- Take on other duties that help the kitchen team and school meal program run smoothly.

- Prior experience in food service or cleaning is an advantage.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Comfort with routine tasks and repeated duties.
- Basic numeracy and computer ability.
- Reliability in commuting to work.
- Willingness to work around children and contribute to a school setting.
- A respectful, inclusive, and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
Work environment and physical demands
This is a full-time Monday-to-Friday schedule, with occasional extended weeks. You may also be asked to take part in company events or meetings. The role involves standing for a full shift, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and regular bending, reaching, walking, and use of hands. Work takes place in a busy kitchen environment with moderate noise and frequent movement.
